Editor's Note: As editor and publisher of "The Swamp Road Chronicles", I have received, over the 30 years I have been publishing this website, perhaps 3 reports, or mentions, of someone seeing a line of darkly clad women in long dresses walking single-file across the fields and marshes around Swamp Road. I thought it was time that their activities were recorded here for future reference.

Dear Reader,

During my recent discussion with Ross Meribee concerning his and his wife's encounters with Swamp Road Sally, he casually mentioned that he had seen the "walking women" 3 or 4 times over a period of 40 years or so. He said it was always in October, they always seemed to be on a mission, walking at a steady but determined pace. He had no further information other than to say that there seemed to be about 20 or 30 of them; it varied every time he saw them.

He never discovered any damage caused by them and never heard any reports from neighbors concerning any mischief done. Where they were going and what they were up to, he had no idea and neither do I, but it is very intriguing, don't you think?

That Swamp Road is a strange place.
